What does a Friend do? A Friend provides financial support to The World Community for Christian Meditation towards its work of sharing the gift of Christian Meditation worldwide. In particular, a Friend supports the work of the Community in developing, nurturing and assisting emerging Christian Meditation communities in locations where there may be no regional or national contacts or coordinators. How can I be a Friend? You can choose to send a personal contribution to be an Individual Friend. Additionally, or alternatively, you can also choose to be a Group Friend by contributing jointly with your meditation group. We invite donations annually. What does a Friend contribute? Any donation you may like to offer will be gratefully accepted. We will acknowledge all the donations received. How do I contribute? You can make your contribution in a variety of different ways, including cheque, bank draft, telegraph transfer, money order, standing order or credit card (either directly or through PayPal. To minimise banking and other administrative expenses, we would prefer to receive contributions in Sterling Pounds, Euros or US Dollars but we will gladly accept whatever works best for you. Where does the money go? Different emerging communities and different local circumstances dictate different needs. We try to address these needs in the hope of nourishing spiritual growth. Your contribution may support any of the following initiatives:
Retreats, talks and presentations by Father Laurence in emerging Christian Meditation communities.
The WCCM School for Teachers which trains meditation teachers world-wide and provides resources for them.
Distribution of regular resource materials to meditation groups worldwide, including the quarterly WCCM international newsletters and video or audio recording of talks.
Translation of resource materials into different languages to reach out to a wider audience of meditators.
Publications of books and audio/video resources which may not be commercially viable, but are necessary.
Interfaith dialogue to raise awareness, promote understanding and bring about harmony.
Touching lives of the marginalised, the sick, the imprisoned in the hope of bringing them to wholeness.
Planting the seed of meditation in the young so it may become a way of life for them.
Friends Newsletter Every year, the WCCM publishes an annual Friends Newsletter detailing the fundraising work of the community. Please click here if you would like to read past issues of this newsletter. Help your Local Community Separately, the WCCM has communities in over 110 countries, all of which are self- funding. Some of these communities require financial support for on-going expenses, such as:
Production and distribution of national WCCM newsletters.
Conduct of retreats, workshops, and other community events.
Maintenance of premises/ facilities, etc.
