FROM THE HEART
"I think that meditation has opened a new dimension of my life and it
is still working in the length and the breadth, in the depth and the
height of my being. Growing up in a Christian tradition, I could believe in
it,  but I was not fulfilled by it. I respected my parents' conviction, but I
couldn't adopt it in the same way. I needed another insight and another
    view.

That's why I started to read the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads,
Shankara and tanjali and I discovered indeed deeper spiritual levels of
    human existence.

Although  I  started  meditation as an exercise, it became more and
more an important daily moment of stillness during which I laid aside my
doubts and questions.  I  think  that  Eastern philosophy and scripture
has given me a deeper  insight.  But little by little I discovered that
Eastern philosophy and  the  Christian message could lead me to a
beautiful and satisfying way of life, even to a fulfilling world-view. I guess
that in the stillness and the  concentration  of  meditation  a  fertile
process  has taken place. I experienced  the  meaning  of  love  and for
the first time Jesus' teaching became  very  vital,  very  clear  and I was
able to recognize that life is love,  that  love  is  God  and that our life is in
God. It was an exciting discovery.  I  became  again  interested  in  the
Christian  tradition and intuitively I understood that Jesus taught a faith to
which our whole being must be committed, to which all our talents are
    summoned.

At  that  time  I heard about the Christian Meditation Centre in London and
about  John  Main. I travelled to London, I read "Word into Silence", and I
saw clearly the way I wanted to go.

I'm  still  walking that way, and I have still a long way to go. But I feel
happy, grateful and I think that my heart has become much bigger so
that my body feels sometimes too small for it."

Agnes started the Centre for Christian Meditation for Belgium and
Holland  in  1992. She firmly believes that there is an urgent need for the
core  teachings  of  Christian  Meditation  to  be  translated into as many
languages  as  possible  in order for the value of silence to be shared
and embraced by more and more people around the world. Agnes is
actively Involved in  the  translating  of  the works of Fr John Main and Fr
Laurence Freeman into the Dutch and Flemish languages.
