CHINA,HONG KONG AND TAIWAN
FROM THE HEART
CHINA: Many seeds were sown in the four seminaries Fr. Laurence visited
in 2004 and which I subsequently visited in 2005 and 2006. While several
seminarians are meditating on their own, we are hopeful that the retreats
Fr. Laurence will lead this August may produce a better harvest.

HONG KONG: Up until 2002, Hong Kong had one meditation group, faithfully
led by Fr. Sean Burke. Following Fr. Laurence’s visit in 2003, 2004 , 2006
and our efforts to sow CM seeds during those three years, Fr. Laurence’s
first retreat on THE ASPECTS OF LOVE attracted  a full house of 126
retreatants (with many more on the waiting list.) The crowning joy was the
official establishment of WCCM (Hong Kong) after the retreat. Now 7
meditation groups meet regularly each week and the numbers are steadily
growing. Indeed the Holy Spirit has set Hong Kong aflame, and as Fr. Sean
remarked, “Hong Kong, though a worldly city, prosperous, busy, rich and
noisy, but it is so poor in spiritual wealth… As Hong Kong grows taller and
taller with larger buildings, there is such a need to go down—down into the
    center of the human heart.”

TAIWAN: Fr. Laurence visited Taiwan for the first time in 2004, and I
followed with  a second visit in 2005 to water and nurture the seeds. But
so far, we do not have a meditation group.  We are hopeful that Fr.
Laurence’s talks in Kaosiung (in mid-Taiwan) and Taipei this August, may
    bring better results.

I beg for your prayers-- that the Holy Spirit will take a very active role in
promoting our efforts. The fact that I live in mid-west USA and only visit
China and Taiwan occasionally, makes it very difficult to encourage and
nurture the formation of groups. I am asking the Lord for fireballs like Lina
Lee and Anthony Ng (now Co-cordinators of WCCM (Hong Kong) in China
and Taiwan. We are also working hard to get more books and tapes
translated into Chinese so these materials can be readily available to the
many who do not read English.
