FROM THE HEART
My name is Teresa Jacqueline Naidu.  I am a mother of four children.  My
oldest son, Thomas, is 18 years old and attends Sacred Heart College in
Auckland.  James is 16 and attends Marist Brothers in Suva.  Our little
ones, Ranjan Junior is in Class One at Mount St Mary’s and Grace, our only
daughter is now two and keeps me busy at home.  My husband, Ranjan,
works in the IT Department at Air Pacific and is often out of the country.  He
is a convert after 13 years of marriage.  As a child I didn’t understand much
about our Catholic faith but remember that my mother made us pray the
Rosary every evening.  My father never showed any interest in our faith at
all.  As I grew older I had a desire to search and learn more about God.  The
invitation to a Thirty Day retreat based on the Spiritual Exercises of St
Ignatius of Loyala which is held at the Ashram every year has been the
single most important experience in my life, awakening my desire to
deepen the knowledge of my faith and to know and learn more about God.
The retreat which was held in July 2002, taught me a lot of things about life
as well, especially in making choices.  Some months after finishing the
retreat I was introduced to Christian Meditation by Sr Loyala.  I was invited
to a one day retreat organised by the Christian Meditation Group in Nadi.  Fr
Denis was particularly inspirational and very encouraging.

We now have a group of four to five women in our area who meet regularly
at 10 a.m. on Tuesday mornings.  During this “Year of the Eucharist”,
Thursday is our chosen day of adoration in the parish of Mt St Mary’s, and
my friend, Mrs Chaudhary, and I usually begin our time of adoration with 30
minutes meditation.  By doing this it makes our time of adoration so much
more meaningful and beautiful.  As a member of Christian Meditation group
I should be meditating twice a day but with the demands of a husband and
four children, a household to run and commitments to the school, area and
parish, it is not always possible to do this faithfully, but the challenge is
there all the time, to drop everything and enjoy the stillness of the Lord.
