FROM THE HEART

    For so many years, I had the feeling that something was missing in my life.
    I was on a disquiet search for something. And I am so glad that this has
    changed after I started to meditate.

    Meditation is much more down-to-earth than I had thought. On the
    Würzburg retreat in May 2006, Fr Laurence taught us to sit still each
    morning and evening. He told us to let body and mind come to stillness. He
    told us to constantly say the mantra “Maranatha“ in our minds and to
    come back to the mantra as soon we realised that we were distracted
    form it.

    At the beginning I was not so sure weather I would find the time to practice
    meditation on a regular daily basis. But I wanted to at least give it a try. So I
    decided get up ½ hour earlier and to meditate every morning for at least
    one week. After the week had passed I had already found out that the
    regular meditation period did me well. For the next week I decided to go for
    a second meditation period that I practiced in the evenings before bedtime.
    Today I still practice the twice daily meditation and it fits easily in my daily
    routine. Just as the brushing of my teeth does.

    The practice of twice daily meditation has enriched my life. Meditation is a
    very special type of prayer. It is very down-to-earth and still goes deep
    beyond what words can express. It helps me find my inner self and to get
    connected to my soul, to God and to all other human beings. I don’t want to
    miss the daily “being with God” period. Life roots deeper now.
