| FROM THE HEART |
- I am an American Dominican priest missionary who has lived here in
Pakistan for 30 years. I am now preparing to leave for good – health and
age reasons and the joy of knowing that our Order has now been firmly
established here.
One of my most enjoyable ministries has been teaching courses to young
seminarians according to John Main. To use an old saying, they seem to
take to John Main’s method “like fish to water”. I have a feeling that it’s in
their blood; they easily let go of a discursive method. I think also that
being here in Asia I have become aware of the rich tradition of meditation
which is ancient. And it has taught me to see the great wisdom in the
development of meditation in the West by people like John Main. I have
been greatly enriched. “East and West DO meet”
