SWITZERLAND
FROM THE HEART
    Fr Laurence came at the end of November 2006 for a weekend
    introduction to meditation for 12-step AA/NA groups. That proved to be
    very successful and has added a few more members to the group. Several
    people have also gone back to their home towns in Switzerland with the
    intention of setting up a group if possible. We're following that as closely
    as possible. It's been a very encouraging year after many spent "trudging
    through the desert".

    During this anniversary year we are planning to read together in the group
    Father John's "The Way of Unknowing". I'm hoping that this will encourage
    people to read more and to develop their knowledge of meditation.
    However as I write this, I'm reminded that Father John said that everything
    we really NEED to know about it could fit onto a postage stamp! After the
    Thursday group we have got into the habit of going out for a meal together
    and this has proved to be a great opportunity for sharing experiences.
    When the good weather comes along again, we are planning to organise
    another outing in the mountains as we did with Laurence, meditate
    together and share our ideas and difficulties with perhaps a short talk
    around a celebratory 2007 theme.

    It's wonderful to see how the community has grown from the seeds first
    sown by Fr John and watered of course by Fr Laurence!
